Highland Schools PPP

During the summer of 2002 the contractor MJ Glesson approached SI Sound and Light to assist with two Flagship PPP Projects in Highland Council. Ardnamurchan and Glen Urquart Community Schools have resulted in the provision of tremendous facilities for both the school and the comunities they serve.

MJ Gleeson and NJ Baileys the main contractors for the PPP Projects approached SI Sound and Light with a short lead time project in the Summer of 2002.Altough the major specification for the assembly hall entertainment equipment had been completed the design of the detailed requirements and implementation had to be completed very quickly to ensure the completion of the project within the predetermined works timetable.

The works consisted of a full theatrical setup including 48 Circuits of dimmable lighting, staging, fully operational front side and rear curtains and a production sound system for providing sound reinforcement for any presentations or shows. In addition a full surround sound commercial cinema system comprising of JBL audio components and Sanyo projection equipment allows full audio visual presentations and full feature presentations to take place in the assembly hall.

After handover of the project to the client SI Sound and Light completed comprehensive training on all installed equipment for member of staff and pupils of both the Srontian and Drumnadrochit schools.

The Highland Schools projects were developed as a result of Highland council’s first education public private partnership. It recieved funding from the Highland Council, Community Schools Highland Ltd, sportscotland lottery fund, the European Union, Scottish Arts council Lottery fund and Lochaber Enterprise.
